Best First Half in Past Four Years
Take-up in the overall Frankfurt market area in the first half of 2016 totalled 225,000 m². That not only exceeded the prior-year figure by 11 % but was also the best half-year result of the past four years. In the narrower gif-defined area, turnover came to 212,000 m², which actually represents a year-on-year rise of 20 %. The greater buoyancy of demand already evident in the early months continued in the second quarter. So after several somewhat difficult years, the Frankfurt office market is on the upswing again. It is notable that the higher take-up was achieved without any marked increase in large-unit deals. The only lease in the category over 10,000 m² was that concluded by the ECB in the Bankenviertel for premises of nearly 18,000 m². On the other hand, particularly in the mid-range size classes, demand was appreciably livelier than it had been last year.
