Record First Half
For the first time in the past ten years, take-up at the six-month point broke through the 200,000 m² threshold, setting a new record with a total of 202,000 m². That was 70,000 m² higher than in the first half of 2015 and in fact corresponded to more than 70 % of take-up during the whole of last year. A massive contribution to the half-year total was a lease for 60,000 m² concluded by insurance group Zurich Versicherung. But even without that huge deal, the result was highly satisfactory – the remaining 142,000 m² was still higher than the 10-year average. Over half of aggregate turnover (54 %) was generated by the office market zone City Centre, with around 74,000 m² coming from the district of Deutz, the scene of the Zurich deal. In the Centre Fringe precincts, sizeable take-up volumes were registered by Ehrenfeld / Braunsfeld (around 22,000 m²) and Kalk / Mülheim (about 26,000 m²).
