Leasing market active despite moderate decline

  • The number of leases of private residential properties which started in the first quarter of 2021 totaled 23,567, a second consecutive quarter of decline, albeit at a slower rate of 1.2%. Nevertheless, this figure was still up 8.7% from the 21,684 recorded in Q1/2020.
  • Among the top five non-landed projects with the most leasing transactions, most are located in Core Central Region (CCR). While the rental transactions for these developments were mainly for smaller units, there was a high proportion of one-bedroom units leased at The Poiz Residences.
  • Due to construction delays, there have been fewer project completions over recent quarters while vacancy levels have declined and this resulted in the URA rental index recording its second straight quarter of increase
